Japanese Ceramic Vase Otagiri Paid $1 ~Sold $24
Classic Japanese ceramics are sparsely decorated. In this tradition, only the front of this black flat table vase is decorated with a red hibiscus in full bloom. The polychrome colors are applied on a black background using a combination of transfers, brush and air-brush. The hibiscus stamens are all gold, and all the images are outlined in gold. This Otagiri flowered ceramic vase was made in the late 1970's - early 1980's. The bottom is clearly marked: "Camellia" in script and "© Otagiri, Japan".
